Stefan Worgall, Ph.D., M.D.
Pediatric Pulmonology
I am a physician scientist. My clinical expertise is in diseases that affect the lungs and airways in infants and children. My research interests are to better understand chronic lung diseases, particularly asthma and cystic fibrosis, and to develop new strategies to prevent and treat these disorders.
Dr. Worgall is the Division Chief of the Pediatric Pulmonology, Allergy and Immunology Division and Distinguished Professor of Pediatric Pulmonology at Weill Cornell Medical College, where is is also a Professor of Pediatrics, and Associate Professor of Genetic Medicine. In addition, he is an Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
He received his medical education at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany and his residency training in Pediatrics at the Universities of Heidelberg, Essen and Giessen in Germany and at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Worgall completed a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Worgall maintains an active research laboratory where his group studies the lung immune system in asthma and cystic fibrosis as well as new vaccine strategies against lung infections. As author or co-author of more than 70 research articles, Dr. Worgall has published his scientific work in journals such as Journal of Clinical Investigation, Blood, Nature Medicine and Journal of Virology.
Brooke I. Spector, M.D.

Dr. Brooke Spector is an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical
Center and an Instructor in Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is board certified in Pediatrics.
After graduating with a B.S from Cornell University in 2005, Dr. Spector attended New York Medical College where she earned her medical degree (M.D.). She then completed her residency training in Pediatrics at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. After residency, Dr. Spector remained at NYP/Weill Cornell to serve as Chief Resident for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Lisa B. Moreno, M.D.
Pediatric Allergy and Immunology
As a specialist in the field in Allergy/Immunology there is a vast array of symptoms and clinical diagnoses that I have encountered. The clinical role in treating the dynamics of allergies, asthma, and immunodeficiency is both challenging and rewarding. Every patient has a unique presentation. In working with my patients, I enjoy working closely with patients and their families to provide the most comprehensive, state-of-the art care.
Dr. Lisa B. Moreno is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at Weill Cornell Medical College in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary, Allergy & Immunology. She received her medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency & served as Chief Resident at Cohen’s Children’s Hospital in New York. Dr. Moreno also completed her fellowship training at Cohen’s Children’s Hospital. Dr. Moreno has also received a Masters of Science in the field of Health Service Research and Epidemiology from the Weill Cornell Medical College.
She is board certified in Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology. Dr. Moreno’s patient population has served both pediatric and adults. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Moreno served as faculty at Columbia University Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.
Her clinical interests span the field to include asthma, allergic rhinitis, food allergy, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, and chronic urticaria.
Dr. Moreno’s research interest and experience has been primarily in pediatric asthma. Most recent research has involved the use of stress intervention techniques in the management of asthma.

Sleep Medicine
Dr. Haviva Veler is the Director for the Weill Cornell Pediatric Sleep and Breathing Disorders Center. She also serves as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College, and is an Assistant Attending Pediatrician at NewYork-Presbyterian Phyllis and David Komansky Center for Children's Health/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, Dr. Veler is an expert in sleep medicine and obstructive sleep apnea. She received her medical degree at the Technion Institute of Technology, School of Medicine in Haifa, Israel. She completed her internship and residency at Maimonides' Infant and Children's Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and then went on to complete a fellowship program in Pediatric Pulmonology at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), staying on as an attending physician. In 2006, Dr. Veler returned to New York City, joining the Department of Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Montefiore, where she also served as the Director of the Pulmonary Function Test Laboratory from 2007-2010.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Veler is the author of several peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter on asthma. She also serves as a reviewer for pulmonary journals. Her research experience includes looking at airway smooth muscle cells as a potential super-antigen in asthmatics.
Dr. Veler's current research interest focuses on evaluation of upper airway abnormalities, in the context of upper airway obstruction and in kids with obstructive sleep apnea, in a non invasive way through the use of the impulse oscillometry system (IOS).

Dr. Susan Bostwick is Executive Vice Chair for Education and Administration in the Department of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is also Interim Chief of the Division of Medical Genetics. In addition she has served as Associate Director of Pediatric Graduate Medical Education at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Campus after serving as Director for 10 years. She is also Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is board-certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics
After earning a B.S. in Mathematics at the State University of New York at Binghamton, Dr. Bostwick attended the Simon School at University of Rochester, where she received her M.B.A in 1987. In 1993, she received her medical degree (M.D.) at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and completed her residency at New York Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident. She received a Clinical Excellence award while a resident at New York Hospital
Dr. Bostwick is involved with teaching of medical students and pediatric residents in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, and chairs the Pediatric Education Committee. Dr. Avarbock received his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Biology, where he was both a University and Benjamin Franklin Scholar. He received his medical education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine combined MD/PhD program. His PhD work focused on energy metabolism and characterizing biochemical pathways important for Mycobacterium tuberculosis survival.
Dr. Avarbock completed his internship in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, and his dermatology residency at Columbia University/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. As a former resident of the Weill Cornell Dermatology Department, I am honored to join the outstanding dermatology faculty here at Weill Cornell. I specialize in treating dermatological problems in infants, children, and adolescents, and also enjoy caring for adults and older patients. I prioritize making patients feel comfortable and encourage questions during the visit.
Dr. Bender majored in neuroscience and graduated summa cum laude from Amherst College. She attended medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her internship in internal medicine at Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York City. After internship, she completed residency training in dermatology at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center. Following her residency training, Dr. Bender completed an additional year of specialized fellowship training in pediatric dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. This advanced training makes her distinctly qualified to care for children with skin conditions.

Caitlin E. Hoffman, MD
Dr. Hoffman is an award-winning neurosurgeon who specializes in pediatric neurosurgery as well as in adult and pediatric epilepsy surgery. She has completed fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery with a focus on surgical epilepsy, and has performed extensive research on the molecular mechanisms of progression of brain tumors, specifically medulloblastoma. Her clinical research includes venous anomalies in craniosynostosis, early surgical treatment for Rasmussen’s encephalitis, minimally invasive methods of treating hydrocephalus and intracranial cysts, and the characteristics and safety of invasive monitoring for pediatric neurovascular disorders such as AVM.
Dr. Hoffman sees patients at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and New York Hospital Queens, and performs surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
TRAINING
Dr. Hoffman graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, before receiving her M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College. She completed a neurosurgical residency and chief residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, then went on to complete advanced fellowship training in pediatric neurosurgery at the Hospital for Sick Kids in Toronto.
During her neurosurgical training, Dr. Hoffman was awarded the 2013 Distinguished Housestaff Award by NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, the 2012 Dr. Kenneth Shulman Award by the AANS Pediatric Section, and the 2011 New York State Neurosurgical Society-Resident Research Award; in 2006 she was selected for membership in Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society.

Dr. Hoffman has published academic papers in leading journals including Cancer Research, Nature Medicine, Neurosurgery, and Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics on topics ranging from mechanisms of tumor progression to pediatric cerebrovascular disorders.

Dr. Greenfield is the director of the Children's Brain Tumor Project at the Weill Cornell Pediatric Brain and Spine Center. In the laboratory, Dr. Greenfield and his team are investigating genetic medicine for pediatric brain tumors. Researchers use advanced gene sequencing techniques to study gliomatosis cerebri and other pediatric tumors and have established a tissue bank with samples from the archives of several leading hospitals around the country.
Mee-Lian Wong, MBBS, MPH, MD, FFPH
Mee-Lian is Associate Professor of Public Health at the NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore (NUS). She teaches health promotion and behavioral change in the MBBS and MPH programs. She received her MBBS and MPH from the University of Malaya and her Doctor of Medicine from the National University of Singapore.
Her current research interests include health promotion, cancer screening, behavioral change and prevention of sexually-transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV among adolescents, heterosexual men and sex workers in Singapore and Cambodia. She has published more than 100 papers on STI/prevention and health promotion. Her research on STI prevention and women’s health has earned her many awards, including (i) the Wilf Howe Memorial Prize 2008, Faculty of Occupational Health Physicians, United Kingdom, for outstanding intervention/research project on STI prevention among sex workers with demonstrable health benefits, (ii) Red Ribbon Award, Singapore 2014 for her significant contributions in research against HIV. (iii) National Skin Centre (NSC) Distinguished Friend Award 2009, (iv) SEAMEO-JASPER award, second best research on women and health, 1996 and (v) the Rockefeller Foundation’s (US) Reflections on Development Fellowship award, 1989 for her research on Women in Health and Community Development. She is also visiting consultant to the Department of STI Control, National Skin Center, Singapore.
